Power and control¶
This page describes how to connect the miniDSP Flex to power, and the connections needed to configure it using Device Console.
Power¶
The supplied 12 VDC power supply includes a set of interchangeable power pins (for USA, UK, Europe and Australia). Fit the correct pins for your country. Connect the DC plug to the 12 VDC power socket.
Apply power to the Flex only after all input and output connections have been made. When not in use, the Flex can be placed into standby mode with the remote control or front panel. When applying or removing power, the following sequence is recommended:
-
On: Power on line-level equipment, including the Flex, then turn on power amplification.
-
Off: Turn power amplification off, then power off line-level equipment, including the Flex.
Configuration over USB¶
The USB port is used to configure the Flex with Device Console. Usually, this is connected directly: use the supplied cable to connect a free USB 2.0 port of your computer to the USB port (Type-B) on the Flex rear panel.
If longer cable lengths are required, an active USB extension cable can be used.
Info
Note that the Flex can not be configured using Bluetooth – Bluetooth is for audio streaming only.
Configuration over the network¶
For configuration using Device Console, an optional miniDSP Wi-DG Wi-Fi to USB bridge can be used. This enables configuration over the Wi-Fi network, without the USB cable. The figure below shows a typical connection example.
